山西饭店是省城一家大型三星级饭店，隶属于山西省人民政府机关事务管理局。其前身是阎锡山于1914年兴建的“自省堂”,解放后成为山西人民大礼堂，1956年中国最高人民法院特别军事法庭在此开庭公审9名日本战犯。此后几易其名，为省政府第三招待所、文瀛饭店。1986年改造后，由彭真委员长题名为“山西饭店”。 现已成为省委、省政府、省人大、省政协重要的会议接待中心。 　　山西饭店位于市中心五一广场北侧，东距火车站1.5公里、长途汽车站1公里，至机场15公里，南倚省博物馆，北傍儿童公园，东毗五一广场，西邻最繁华的柳巷和铜锣湾商业广场，交通便利，环境幽雅，景色宜人。
